Lebanon Land Casino to Launch New Online Gambling Platform

Casino du Liban, a land-based casino situate on the coast at Maameltein, Jounieh, around 22 km north of Beirut in Lebanon is, according to local media reports, in the process of planning to launch a new online gambling platform.

A, yet unnamed, international company will be partnering with the casino and a tender has already been launched giving a deadline of Thursday, 19th January 2017 to submit the proposals.

The RFP requires bidders to have a sound track record in the online gambling operational sector and “should be already generating their own minimum revenues of an amount of $650 million, of which 75 percent is required to be from gambling and gaming activities”. The RFP also requires the winning bidder to commit to investing a minimum amount of $15 million in the venture.

The new venture seems to be an endeavor to replace or revamp the Casino du Liban’s current online presence at www.casino-oasis.com, a Spanish/English language site that offers more or less 200 games from the Parley software developer and appears to be operated by Spring Networks N.V. under a Curacao license.

According to the media reports there is, as yet, no legislation in Lebanon that specifically regulates online gambling.

Casino du Liban has exclusive rights for gambling in the country, where over 700 gaming and entertainment centers are currently operating illegally. A lawsuit was recently filed by the casino against the government at the State Shura Council to preserve its exclusivity and push the state to enforce gaming laws.
